5/31/15 Trident Benbrook Sprint

podium 5This was a short Sprint Tri near Fort Worth that my local team, Relentless Racing Multisport, wanted me to do.  The team’s primary sponsor is Colonial Banking, a local bank in Fort Worth.  Brian Miller, who started the team, Ali Miller his wife, and Justin Grissom all competed.  We had a solid showing and claimed the top 3 overall spots on the podium for the men, while Ali took the women’s overall.  Brian and Ali have been great providing me with nice swag, fun weekend training camp, and they were nice enough to take care of my entry for the race, too.  As far as the race goes, I took 1st overall in a field of 95 men and 46 women, with a time of 50:06, for a 300 yard swim, a 10 mile bike, and a 5k run.  I put up a 17:54 on the run, for a 5:28 pace.  The bike ride was 27:51 which is not great considering the distance, however the course was changed from previous years due to recent flooding of Benbrook Lake.  The course ended up being 5 loops with probably 6 turns each loop.  That’s 30 turns…I averaged around 310 watts but only 22 mph!  I joked that I should have been on my road bike instead of my TT bike.  I am not a fan of pool swims because they get crowded and frustrating having to pass people but it was fun to get out and race hard.  I finished up the day with a cool down run and ended up riding 90 min later with coach.
